I almost didn’t make it today, but here it is! Sorry the lighting on them is so bad, I’ll take some more photos tomorrow in the daylight tomorrow and update the post.

Today’s card is a simple, rustic looking card. I’ve also used some simple origami folding to make the tree.

Here are some of the different angels of the tree.

Want to make these? Keep reading for the tutorial
My last paper flower tutorial seemed to be pretty popular, so I have found another one for you to try. This one is a bit more involved, but still really easy.

You will need a piece of double sided patterned paper that measures 10cm x 10cm (4 inch x 4 inch). Make sure that side that you predominately want showing is facing down. This can be made with any size paper to change the size of the flower, as long as it its a perfect square.

Next you want to fold the paper diagonally in half to make a triangle

Take one corner and fold it to the top of the triangle, and then do the same to the other corner. It will make a diamond shape.

Fold the left side of the ‘diamond’ towards the bottom left edge, the do the same for the right side.

Now this is the slightly tricky bit, but once you’ve done it the first time, you’ll be right. You need to fold one side back up to make the ‘diamond’ shape again (first picture) and open it up (second picture). I found sticking my finger in there helped open it easier (sorry about the blurry photo). Do this to both sides.

Once it’s open, you need to flatten it out so it looks like a kite. Again, both sides need to be done.
Fold back both tips of the ‘kites’
and fold the ‘kites’ in half
From here you will need to add some strong adhesive to one side (I have used Stampin Up’s Sticky Strip)
The curl the edges around to meet each other. And that’s one petal done. You will need another 4 petals to make a complete flower
ASSEMBLY
Once you have made the other 4 petals, add some more Sticky Strip to on side of one side of one petal and stick another petal to it.
Then continue to add Sticky Strip and petals until all are attached

And that my people is a beautiful flower! Just think of the lovely flower arrangement you could create.
I have used the same patterned paper from my last post, the Haiku Pack. Remember that this month Stampin Up are offering a Buy 3, Get 1 pack free for selected Designer Patterned Paper packs. Its only available this month and a great way to make a whole lot of these flowers. CLICK HERE to see the details. You will need a scallop circle

The flip the scallop circle

and fold it in half

unfold it, and then fold one half towards the centre

Do the same for the other side and that is it!

I made four of these and stuck it to the front of THIScard

Happy St Patrick’s Day Everyone. Ok, so for post number 2 today we have a St Patricks Day themed card. I don’t have any St Patricks day quotes or stamps that suit, so I left off the greeting. But hopefully the clover conveys the message.
The card is called an explosion card and definitely looks much better in real life. If you would like to have it demonstrated for you, please let me know. This is the card closed……….

And this is the card once opened.
So how does it work?

I am using a piece of Whisper White Cardstock measuring 4 x 12 inches (one third of a 12×12 piece of scrapbooking paper). Its needs to be scored or folded at 6 inches (half) and then at 2 inches at each end.

Then you need to fold down one corner (like you are making a paper aeroplane)

and then fold the other side down

Unfold the paper plane looking paper

and rotate it 180 degrees, so that its facing the other way.

Then do the the aeroplane folds again

and the other side

The unfold again and now flip the piece of paper so the under side now shows

and turn it vertically

Now for the slightly tricky bit (especially when you’re holding a camera and only have 1 free hand free). Working from one end, you need to pinch the 2 sides together

and squeeze flat

Then fold the end flap back towards you (again this is SO much easier with 2 hands lol)

Now, do the same for the other half

and there you have the basic card.

I’ve decided to do the tutorial for the clover in a different post so this one doesn’t get nay longer.

Be warned, this box is addictive! Once you make one, you want to make more, in lots of different sizes. As promised in my last post, this is the picture tutorial for the origami box I made at Melany’s workshop.
You need a square piece of paper. Any size you like. The one from I made at the workshop was 21cm squared. This one I am using a 6 inch x 6 inch square.
Step 1. You need to mark the middle of the paper. You can do this by either folding the paper in half, then folding it in half in the other direction (I did this at the workshop). Or you can measure out the centre and put a dot with a pencil which is what I did for this tutorial. Either one works fine.

Step 2. Fold all the corners into the middle point

Step 3. Fold one of the edges to the centre point

Step 4. Then fold the opposite edge to meet the other at the centre point

Step 5. Unfold the 2 edges and fold the remaining edges in the same way. Once you have done that, your paper should look like the second picture below.

Step 6. Fold out two (2) of the triangles

Step 7. Bring up two (2) of the long sides to make a ‘boat’

Step 8. On one end you need to bring the 2 points together. This part can be a bit tricky the first time.
Step 9. Fold the end over back into the box, and repeat for the other side.

and presto, you have a box!

For the lid you have 2 options. The first is to cut another piece of paper the exact same size as the base and fold exactly the same EXCEPT when you fold the edges together towards the centre, leave about half a centimetre from the centre (picture below). This need to be done on the four edges that fold horizontally to the centre. This will allow the box to be slightly bigger and fit over the base.

Or you can cut a piece of paper 1 centimetre square BIGGER than the base and fold EXACTLY the same. I just happened to have two 6 inch x 6 inch papers on hand, so i just left the half centimetre gap when I folded.

This is the finished product, very easy to decorate, and so simple to make. Let me know how you go with making an origami box. If you like, leave a link in the comments section so we can all have a look!
