Stop Press!

I’m became an Aunty again yesterday morning! My Big Little Sister (big meaning older, and little meaning shorter) gave birth to a beautiful baby BOY at 4:28am and weighing a not so tiny 10 pound 7 ounces! I give it to you Jamie, Well Done!
The new, not so little man, doesn’t have a name yet but I couldn’t resist making a card anyway. I need a card for our next door neighbours anyway whose present has been sitting on the table for quite a while now!

Finally, I have been able to use the new Corduroy Buttons from the Spring Mini Catalogue.

I’ve simply just used a bit of Stampin Up’s hemp Twine, tied a knot and trimmed the edges. I juts love the feel of these buttons. They also come in Basic Gray and Kiwi Kiss. You also get 2 sizes of brads in the same material in the pack. LOVE IT!

Keep you eye out as there will probably be some more baby cards once we have a name so I can make it more personal for them

ENJOY

I have felt to itch to scrapbook for a few weeks now, without a real opportunity to do so. There are a few pages left to finish in Isabelle’s baby album so that’s where I started. I had a general idea of how I wanted this page to be, which always helps me with the process. I have noticed a change in my scrapbooking style to a more clean, uncluttered and simple to what I had been doing in the past. This is great in so many ways.
  1. I don’t need to use as many products, saving me money
  2. I don’t need to have as many options, which is good for someone like me who cant make decisions lol
  3. I can complete a page much quicker, enabling me to finish more pages
  4. I don’t feel the pressure of having the ‘perfect page’ every time I sit down to scrap.

This is the page I’ve just finished. It’s Isabelle’s tiny little feet at about 3 weeks old with my engagement ring on her big toe.

If you are looking for uncluttered simple scrapbooking styles to inspire you, two scrapbooker that inspire me are Ali Edwards and Becky Higgins. Click on thier names to see their blogs.

Supplies
Stampin Up patterned paper for the background, Basic Grey Rub Ons, Bella Chipboard with Stampin Up Super Nova Glitter, Cherish definition by My Minds Eye (Wild Asparagus), flowers and ribbon. I have a feeling the ‘I’ is made by Bazzill?

Happy Labour Day to those who have the public hoiday today. I’m loving it because I don’t have to go to work!

Today’s Monochromatic card is in celebration of my friend Melany finally having her baby girl last night! Way to go MEL! I have seen these cards on the internet and couldn’t resist making one for her. This is take 2 of making Melany a card, since my beautiful little girl decided she needed to add her artwork all over it before I finished it.
I started with the colour ‘Pretty In Pink’ from Stamin Up. A natural choice to accompany this is baby card is white, which is what I did. A great way to keep a card monochromatic is to use a watermark or stamp images in the same colour as the cardstock you are using. You can create a watermark with VersaMark ink, which Stampin Up sells. If left to dry, the VersaMark ink leaves a slightly darker colour than the actual cardstock. The VersaMark ink is quite sticky when you stamp it, which allows you to add embossing powder or glitter to it. I used the Heat & Stick and Dazzling Diamonds glitter to create the flower background and the swirl in the middle of the scallop circle. I like it becuase it gives some great detail and texture to the card without being overbearing.
And stepping away from the monochromatic-ness, I used one of the envelopes from the Carousel Notes in the current Mini Catologue and decorated it with a flourish from the Priceless stamp set with white embossing powder. The card fits perfectly inside.

I’m 0ff to the hospital now to see Melany and sweet little C.

Supplies:
Cardstock:
Pretty In Pink, Whisper White
Stamps: Priceless, Big Bold Birthday, Congrats (from Sale-A-Bration 2009 for the inside greeting)
Ink: Regal Rose, VersaMark
Punches: Scallop Circle, 1-3/8″ Circle, 1-1/4″ Circle
Other: Heat & Stick Powder, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Dimensionals, SNAIL adhesive, Chocolate Envelope from the Carousel Notes, White Embossing powder
Non Stampin Up Products: Kaisercraft- Rhinestones, American Craft Thickers – letter ‘C’

If you wanted to make this entirely from Stampin Up products, you could substitute the rhinestones at the bottom with Stampin Up Brads, Buttons, Pearls or eyelets and the letter with a stamped image or something from the On Board Chipboard Letters.
